Diversifying the missions field by  educating, equipping, empowering and launching African American missionaries and people of color.

Supporting Melanating Missions

The founder of Melanating Missions, Denise Henderson, was in her 20’s when she traveled the world as a participant and alumni team leader for the World Race. During her travels, she was struck by the lack of representation of black/brown people in the missions community. She started Melanating Missions to educate, equip, empower, and launch African American missionaries and people of color to fulfill the Great Commission’s call to “Go to All Nations”.

Educating

We believe education gives us knowledge concerning the world around us in hope that we can contribute to the spreading of the good news. It helps to develop in us a better understanding and deeper knowledge of who Gods is. We desire to help people learn how to missions have historically been apart of Gods plan and how we can align ourselves with Gods Great Commission.

Empowering

When people are empowered they have the ability to see endless possibilities of how God can use them in the Kingdom. Often times in our communities we don’t have examples of what it looks like to be black and live life on mission. We want to create a space for people to see others and be empowered to go.

Equipping

Equipping missionaries means supplying them with the necessary items for the job. We desire to not only educate our missionaries on missions but how they will communicate the gospel within the context of different cultures and even how to maintain physical, spiritual and mental health through out this journey.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

— Matthew 28:19—
